Suffolk County has implemented an emergency sales tax relief program for small businesses as they look to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy.
County Executive Steve Bellone said businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees would be eligible to purchase up to $100,000 in building materials without having to pay state or local sales tax. Materials included in the promotion include windows, sheet rock, flooring and electrical, as well as any equipment damaged by the storm that needs to be replaced.
This emergency sales tax relief program is being facilitated by the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency.
Small business owners who have had their place of business damaged by Hurricane Sandy should fill out a relief form via the Suffolk County IDA?s website.
