LUBBOCK Permian High School graduate Paige Strahan scored the game-winning goal Friday for the Texas Tech women's soccer team in a 2-1 season-opening victory against Idaho.
Before an announced crowd of 1,117 at John Walker Soccer Complex, Strahan broke a 1-1 tie with an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute.
Janine Beckie put Tech ahead 1-0 in the opening minute off an assist from Conner Williams before Chelsie Breen equalized for Idaho in the 78th minute.
The Red Raiders (1-0) return to action at noon Sunday at home against New Mexico.
